In 1995, the founder of the Ark of The Covenant (ARTECO), Marian Chishimba Labouschagne in conjunction with the body of believers in Christ – both national and international and the community at large – responded to God's desire to empower Orphaned and vulnerable Children (OVC) as well as other vulnerable groups and the less privileged in society, in order to arrest the high incidences of vices in OVC and disempowered members of society.
The ARTECO management works under the supervision of the Executive Director whose main duty is to ensure that the policies laid down are being implemented and observed.
