Ark of The Covenant (ARTECO) is a Christian organisation founded on biblical values and principles. It was founded in Kabwe town, Zambia in 1995 by Pastor Marian Chishimba. The organisation was founded as a result of God's compassion on the little children who either find themselves on the streets due to the loss of parents or because their parents are unable to provide for them due to lack of resources.
The orphanage takes in children between the age of 4 and 12. These are taken in indiscriminately. The orphanage also takes in vulnerable children who are found to be abused by parents, guardians, etc. The process of accepting these children is done by ARTECO's Management Committee with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and the Child Care and Adoption Society.
Cultural Exchange
Lisa has been on the exchange programme from Gotzam Project in Sweden, she is from Stockholm and has helped in teaching a class that takes up to 30 students and has added value to the lives of the children as she puts them to bed with bedtime stories, etc.
Lisa embarked on a project initiated by her mother, with full support from Gotzam, to buying beds on behalf of Gotzam. 15 bank beds have been built by Renova Enterprises, a Lusaka fabricator. |
